April Catch Up

April

April has gone by super quick. This month has been so busy, work wise I have had loads on. We had a lovely half term, me and Josie used our merlin pass to go to Legoland. We also have Paultons Park passes and used this beginning of April. We love Paultons Park as lots for both kids to do. Luckily for us both places are only about an hour away. The passes are ideal for us, as monthly money is tight but we still can do exciting days out. We always take a picnic so the only money we need is fuel.

The Easter bunny came by and was a great success. Rowan was slightly miffed by the whole experience but enjoyed the chocolate. Finally I taught Josie to ride her bike, she has been cycling everywhere now.

Finally we sorted a budget and have nailed it. Since moving we have had to really tighten up with money. For the house we have, it is totally worth it and is only until nursery fees stop. The joys of being a working parent. In a weird way, I quite enjoy the challenge of budgeting. Sorting food shops, planning days out on a budget. May we have the joy of both cars needing MOT and service so hopefully we can still stick to our budget. We are going to try and stick to a weekly budget May, to help Josie-Ann understand money more.

I have been doing a lot more cooking, one being a Baking Challenge with my good friend Estelle. You can see links here for my cake and Estelle’s gluten and lactose free version. I have tried some new dinners, one being Sweet Potato and Spinich Dahl. This was so scrumptious and cheap to make, also low calorie and enough to make leftovers too.

I have purchased a Fitbit Blaze, and totally love it way more than I thought I would. I like the Apple Watch, but this was way too much money. But my Blaze does everything I need. I love the fact I can get notifications and track my fitness. As my work is mainly desk based I have my goal for 3500 steps and have to push myself to achieve this. I have been walking so much more, especially at Lydiard Park which is only a few mins away, I have also managed to lose 10lbs at one point. But then went off course after being poorly. But am back on my mission with avengance.

4 Random things I am loving….

Beauty and The Beast –I have managed to see the film 5 times so far. I absolutely love the film. I have just purchased a huge poster of the film to frame.

Green and Blacks –Chocolate is the downfall to my diet. Green and Blacks taster collection has been a godsend. They are little bars but so rich, that one little bar is enough to kerb my craving.

Reading –I had a few weeks not reading but a, back on track. I finally finished The Night Circus. Then read within 2 days The Death House which I loved and couldn’t put down. I am now attempting Church of Marvels.

Walking –I have really got into walking. I am planning routes, downloaded weather apps and apps to map my walks. We have got a parking pass for Lydiard Park which is a few mins away, so we can go whenever we like. I love walking with the kids, exploring, taking photos.

I was over the moon when Disney Store picked myself and 29 other bloggers to celebrate their 30th Anniversary which you can see here. We received toys from The Little Mermaid and went on a photo shoot to Lydiard. I was so pleased with the photos. I want to do the same with Rowan, maybe as a Buzz or Woody. These photos will be perfect in my Disney kitchen.

May is again, looking a busy month. We are looking forward to going to our local carnival mid May. Planning some days out with the kids. End of May brings another half term. I also have some exciting posts coming up on my blog.
